Celebrating Our Public Lands

In these unprecedented times, we understand that celebrating Fourth of July might not feel quite the same this year. In this year alone, we have faced a global pandemic, an economic downturn, and a confrontation of our racist and corrupt criminal justice system. With all this said, there’s been an unexpected consequence – a newfound appreciation for the outdoors.

As people are seeking an escape from the happenings of the world, they’re turning to national parks, state parks, beaches, hiking trails, and local parks for an escape. Our nation has a bounty of unique and beautiful outdoor spaces that are not only enjoyable – but in some cases, healing. As we begin to re-open and focus on our national recovery, many Americans will be exploring comfort in our public lands.

Our public lands are a physical reminder of the shared treasures our country has to offer. Protecting our public lands starts with the Great American Outdoors Act and solidifying full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Right now, the Great American Outdoors Act is headed to Congress. This is a bipartisan effort to permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a program that supports up to 40,000 national and state parks across the country. The spaces protected and invested in by the LWCF are the economic lifeblood of communities across the country – responsible for 7 million jobs and billions of dollars in revenue for regional economies. It’s a win for everyone.

It is up to us to ensure these outdoor spaces are protected for today’s adventurers and preserved for tomorrow’s explorers.

By permanently funding LWCF, we’re fueling economic growth, protecting the outdoors, and preserve our great outdoors for future generations enjoyment. We know that investments in our communities are tried and true solutions that move us forward- rebuilding an economy with public health, safety and welfare in mind.

Call up Speaker Pelosi and let her know how much our Public Lands mean to you.

See you outside.
