SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to the Senate advancing critical affordability, energy, water, conservation, pollution, accountability, and democracy bills ahead of the May 29th House of Origin deadline.

Statement from Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters:

“The Senate President and leadership showed up big for Californians this week. Senators moved quickly in an organized and unified way to advance policy solutions to some of voters’ biggest concerns. At a time when Californians are demanding action, the Senate didn’t blink. From cost, environmental, and health protections from corporate polluters, to advancing cleaner, cheaper energy, to strengthening democracy, the Senate showed what it looks like to meet this moment with focus. That kind of urgency should be the standard. We’re working hard with the Assembly to make sure they meet this moment, too.”

Senate Priority Bills:

– SB 886 (Padilla) Data Center Tariffs

– SB 878 (Pérez) Wildfire Insurance Claims

– SB 905 (Becker) Electricity

– SB 954 (Blakespear) CEQA SB 131 Clean-Up

– SB 1085 (Durazo) Water supply planning: housing developments

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS

California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
